HEART UK are organising a HoFH (Homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia) Family Day, 20th February 2026.
Homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia (HoFH) is a form of FH (familial hypercholesterolaemia). This is a condition which is passed down through families in the genes and raises blood cholesterol to very high levels. HoFH is the more severe form and it raises cholesterol even higher.
It's very rare. An estimated one in 250,000 people have it.
Without treatment, HoFH can lead to heart disease at a very young age, even in childhood.
